Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth (IMO) are conditions where bacteria (and, in the case of IMO, archaea) proliferate where they shouldn't - in the small intestine! These microbes in the wrong place can cause digestive symptoms such as abdominal cramps, pain, chronic bloating, altered bowel habits (diarrhea or constipation), and also nutrient deficiencies, unintended weight loss or gain, etc.
\nCandida and SIBO often form a malicious duo. When Candida overgrows, it may compromise gut barrier function, potentially allowing SIBO-causing bacteria to translocate, settle in, and increase in the small intestine. It's a loop of destruction - one disrupts the gut environment, making it easier for the other to flourish.
\nRestoring your gut to its harmonious state is much more than an antifungal battle; it's about cultivating a thriving environment where your entire being – from your gut to your mind – can flourish and sparkle with vitality! 🌼
\nIf you battle SIBO, temporarily reduce the fermentable carbs that can cause digestive discomfort (high-FODMAPs) for managing SIBO symptoms.
\nFocus on minimizing sugars and processed foods that may feed Candida and worsen SIBO.
\nPossibly avoid glutenous grains: This includes wheat, barley, and rye. Instead, consider including small amounts of non-glutenous pseudo-grains like quinoa, brown rice, millet, and buckwheat.
\nPrioritize quality meat and seafood, healthy fats, with non-starchy vegetables and low-sugar fruits in the diet.

\nHerbal allies: Utilize antimicrobial and antifungal herbs under the guidance of a healthcare professional for a balanced approach to eliminating overgrowths.

\nOnce your elimination process ends, you need to start rebuilding.
\nSupportive supplementation: consider beneficial supplements, such as probiotics, prebiotics, L-glutamine, or zinc-carnosine, to support gut healing and immunity.
